Recasting the Avengers as a classic movie → Gregory Peck as Bruce Banner
(This recast inhabits an alternate universe where all the actors are the right ages at the same time.)

If I had any lingering doubts about Scarlett Johannson as Black Widow, or the character in general, they were blown out the water by that fucking perfect little moment right there.

This makes me think of a human!au in which Thor is sectioned because he thinks he’s a Norse God, and Loki is the adopted son who’s left to take over the billion-dollar family business, and you’re never quite sure if he’s genuinely concerned for his brother or if he set Thor up…
And Odin is still a terrible, terrible father.

The Avengers (2012)
The guys at Marvel really know the meaning of the word ‘cocktease’

Sooo - the plot revolves around Loki de-ageing the Avengers for nefarious reasons?
…Only he didn’t factor in how adorable he’d find them. Bb!Steve’s bottom lip starts to tremble because Loki’s scaring him, and it’s pure instinct for Loki to swing the tiny Captain onto his shoulders. But although that cheers up Steve, now all the little Avengers want a go. So Loki finds himself giving piggyback rides across Central Park, and by the time they’re done, they all need a nap. Including Loki.
Of course, bb!Thor refuses to rest unless he can snuggle with Loki, and Loki is exhausted enough - seriously, why did he think dealing with small Avengers would somehow be easier than their full-grown selves? - that he agrees, which is why he wakes two hours later half-smothered by a restored Thor, the spell having worn off in the interim.
Needless to say, neither Loki nor the Avengers can quite bring themselves to continue with their conflict - it’s hard enough to look someone in the eye when you spent the afternoon giving them piggyback rides, let alone try to blast them from the face of the earth. And Loki can’t quite shake the feeling that if he hurts any of them, Captain America will be upset, and he really can’t cope with that happening again, because he’s not sure he can keep giving him piggyback rides now that he’s fully super-soldier-sized…
…should I tag this for spoilers?
